Editorial

Editorial As the journal is about to conclude its third decade of existence, it seems an opportune time to take stock of its recent performance and formulate some key milestones ahead. The journal has always prided itself on being a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas relevant to the difficult work at the coal face. In line with this ambition, the journal has always engaged with practitioners who wanted to synthesise their experience and publish to disseminate their practical knowledge to a wider audience. Maintaining its relevance to integration practice and to practitioners by bridging the divide between academic publishing and practice is not an easy feat. The publishing industry is changing fast and metrics focussed on academic performance often mitigate against such an inclusive and participatory editorial strategy. At the journal we made an extra effort to create a space where practitioners and researchers meet and engage. Firstly, we agreed a mentoring system where practitioners keen to share their ideas in print would be teamed up with a journal board member to collaborate on getting an initial draft ready for submission. This has borne some interesting fruits over the last two years. It is difficult but immensely http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Integrated Care Emerald Publishing

Abstract

As the journal is about to conclude its third decade of existence, it seems an opportune time to take stock of its recent performance and formulate some key milestones ahead.
