Economical optimization of tool replacement intervals On the basis of tool life stochastic distributions and tool reliability for the case of tool failure by wear, develops a model for determining optimal tool replacement intervals coupled with the forecasting of tool replacement in a computer‐integrated manufacturing environment. With this model, the optimal tool replacement interval for minimum production cost can be determined. Abstract
