Reports on Eat Your Words a developmentalhealth promotion project for 9 to 11yearolds, which aims to encouragechildren to become discerning food consumers. Funded by the ConsumersAssociation Jubilee Award, the project is a joint initiative between theNational Forum for Coronary Heart Disease Prevention, Bloomsbury andIslington Health Promotion Department, the British Dietetic Associationand Camden Local Education Authority. It aims to counter the pressure ofpromotion and advertising from the food industry when the hiddenmessages contradict national guidelines for a healthy diet. Primaryschools within the London Borough of Camden will trial and evaluate theresources during 1992, after which the materials will be reviewed andrevised for nationwide distribution.
