One such method, MultiDiscriminant Analysis, has received considerable attention in accountingcircles where opinions differ regarding its success. In this analysiseight companies from the leisure sector have been selected specificallyto demonstrate varying levels of success. Financial data taken from thepublished accounts are then analysed using two widely recognised models. This preliminary research provides evidence that this technique has thepotential for predicting failure in the leisure sector. Further researchis now required to determine the effective lead time for suchpredictions and eventually to provide a model specifically for theservice industries. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management Emerald Publishing
