A reduction in waiting lists for inpatient oral surgery together with an improved service for minor procedures by the use of a daybed facility is the proposed solution to the problem studied. The approach used relies on adopting a productionoperations management POM viewpoint combined with an interfacing methodology based on that of the soft systems school.
