NEW methods of application mean new types of contact not surprisingly, new problems of corrosion are created. This has happened with the muchincreased use of aircraft for spreading agricultural chemicals. In a few years the tonnage of fertilisers applied from the air to New Zealand grassland has risen from 5,000 to a quarter of a million tons in the United States, aircraft broadcasting and spraying has developed more steadily and more widely, but the total tonnage involved must be very substantial.
