Abstract
Most Masters Degrees in Management include a research project. Adissertation is normally required which sets the managerial problemunder investigation within the context of the subject and explorespossible wider implications. However in manufacturing industry,management consultants are increasingly being used to solve problems andact as change agents. Describes a major course exercise that focusesspecifically on consultancy and managerial problem solving. The exerciseis unusual in that it is companybased and relies heavily on actionlearning. Since the course participants are practising managers, theexercise represents a major piece of management development.
