Comment FEBRUARY 1975 PIGMENT AND RESIN TECHNOLOGY 3 To p speakers lined up for Paint Raw Materials Conference Interest in the conference on 'Raw Materials- Th e Prospects for the Paints and Inks Industry' being sponsored by this journa l at the Mount Royal Hotel, Oxford Street, London on Apri l 29-30, is now gathering momentum. Th e chairman of the conference will be Mr Keith Flory, forme r director of the Paint Makers Association. The opening paper wil l be given by Mr E. S. Wilso n of the Stanford Research Institute (Europe). Subject speakers arranged so far are as follows . Titanium dioxide pigments, Mr G. R. Siddle of Laporte; resinous pigments, Professor Dr Karl Hamman of Forschung in - stitut für Pigment und Lacke, Stuttgart; waste reclamation, Mr R. A . Scaddan of Dorr-Oliver; emulsions, Mr J . M. Cruden of Harlow Chemical Co; solvents, Palle Serensen of Kemisk Vaerk Koge, Denmark; hydrocarbons, Dr Eades and Mr J. C. Kerridge of ICI, Billingham ; epoxy resins, Dr E. M. LaCombe of Unio n Carbide, Geneva. Th e full list of speakers together with details of the final programme will be published in our March issue. Epox y resin formulators meet Th e Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Epoxy Resin Formulators and Applicators was held in London last month and the recent progress made by the association was reviewed by the past chairman, Mr. Norman Gittins of Technical Coating s Ltd. He said that the membership had increased to the stage where it could be claimed that they represented the majority of companies in this particular industry and that the technical standards being developed were being increasingly accepted by specifying authorities. On the retirement of the chairman, and the treasurer, in rotation , Douglas du Rieu of Quentsplass Ltd was appointed chairman , and John Boys of Sika Contracts Ltd, vice-chairman and treasurer. Th e vacancies on the Council were fille d by C. E. Shilton of Sealocrete Products Ltd, and C. M. Norris of Index Finishes (UK) Ltd. Te d Akerman, the chairman of the Technical Panel, outline d the substantial progress which had been made in producin g new and revised test methods, and announced that a complete book of test methods should be available shortly.
