Trust, Action on Elder Abuse, PHAB NI, and the Chinese $6$ Welfare Association, and sponsored by the Department of Health, Social Services, and Public Safety. I took the opportunity to watch the DVD with members of our company’s safeguarding reference group, and a colleague also played it to a group of newly-recruited support workers as part of their induction. The consensus was that, while there are more detailed, informative, and challenging training materials on the market, Can it happen here? is both a useful introductory resource for workers without previous health and social care employment experience, and a good stimulus for internal refresher briefings within local care and support teams. The dos and don’ts of responding to disclosures are helpful reminders; mistakes made at this point are frequently the cause of compromised, prejudiced, or abortive investigations.
