Book review – megaproject leaders – reflections on personal life stories

Book review – megaproject leaders – reflections on personal life stories IJMPB Book review – megaproject 14,4 leaders – reflections on personal life stories Review introduction The book, and chapters co-authored by the editors and other experts in this field (Drouin et al., 2021a) is a remarkable, engaging and valuable contribution not only to the project management (PM) field but also to other disciplines interested in megaprojects in the construction infrastructure sectors. Whereas the literature on leadership in general is extensive, there are few lived-experience stories about how project leaders’ career trajectories prepared them for megaproject delivery. This book admirably rectifies that literature gap. Apart from providing a rigorous account of the requisite knowledge, skills, attributes and experience of the leaders in the 14 biographical life story chapters, this book provides a fascinating human-level personable read. I can well imagine many readers of these chapters enjoying the stories and understanding how these remarkable people became leaders that demonstrate resilience in coping with and thriving on a daunting, frightening challenge. The book provides not only highly useful lessons for students and academic staff but also for practitioners. It forms an excellent mentoring and coaching resource. One thing that struck me was the sense of humility of these leaders and their awareness http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png International Journal of Managing Projects in Business Emerald Publishing
