Bending Moments in a Circular Ring by the Column Analogy

Bending Moments in a Circular Ring by the Column Analogy THE purpose of this paper is to present a method of determining the bending moments in a circular ring which is both speedy and accurate, and is particularly useful when dealing with a complex loading system. A general method which can also be modified for application to rings of any shape and of varying section is first dealt with. The particular case of a circular ring of constant section is then considered, the method being such that the work may be done entirely by substitution in formula or by obtaining values from curves which are readily plotted. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology Emerald Publishing

Abstract

THE purpose of this paper is to present a method of determining the bending moments in a circular ring which is both speedy and accurate, and is particularly useful when dealing with a complex loading system. A general method which can also be modified for application to rings of any shape and of varying section is first dealt with. The particular case of a circular ring of constant section is then considered, the method being such that the work may be done entirely by substitution in formula or by obtaining values from curves which are readily plotted.
