I n addition to the work at this plant in England, Acalor has laid floor tiles at Saccone Speed Ltd., the bottlers of Coca- Cola in Gibralter. It was here that the contract was for laying in the syrup room, bottling areas, laboratories and staircases Hoganas Model 500 yellow floor tiles, to floating floor tech nique and Acalor No. 8 plastic adhesive, which is an imper meable bedding cement for bricks and tiles. Pointing was in Acalor No. 6 bonding cement. In Jersey at Les Riches, rue des Pres Estate, who are auth orised bottlers of Coca-Cola, two floors were laid by Acalor. I n the bottling hall, an area of 216 sq. yds. was laid with Hasle buff floor tiles laid in granite dust and cement and pointed with Acalor No. 6. In the syrup room, Wheatly red quarry tiles were laid in an area of 73 sq. yds. Th e Acalor 'Floating Floor Technique' referred to involves the laying of two layers of Visqueen to the sub-floor, including the falls to drains. The tiles are then laid on a thick semi- dry sand and cement bed topped with Acalor No. 8 plastic adhesive, and the joints are filled by pressure gun with Acalor No . 6 impervious chemical resisting cement. This resinous- based cement, which produces a high bond strength to ceramic tiles and other building materials, does not contract on setting and eliminates the possibility of hair cracking in the cement which could allow liquid sugar, glucose and other products which form crystals on cooling, to cause the floor finish rapidly to disintegrate.
