MESSRS. Vickers Aviation Ltd., of Weybridge, Surrey, have recently brought out a new type of oleopneumatic shock absorbing undercarriage strut. This strut is an extremely simple piece of mechanism and consists essentially of an air cylinder and a piston, the working gland between the piston and the cylinder being oil sealed to prevent air leakage. The compressed air forms the springing medium and there is an internal oil brake and rebound damper which dissipates the energy of landing and damps out oscillations.
