•Removal and distribution of antibiotics in sludge pretreatment-AD was investigated.•Pretreatment significantly promote the dissolution of antibiotics.•Antibiotics are ubiquitous in sludge cells and were released after TP.•Addition of pretreatment was not conducive to the antibiotics biodegradation in AD.•FQs had poor biodegradability in AD and high adsorbed residues in digested sludge.
