Synthesis, solvatochromism, photochemistry, DNA binding, photocleavage, cytotoxicity and... A Novel [Ru(phen)2(ppym)]2+ complex was synthesized and characterized. The dual emission (Excimer) characteristics observed for ligand ppym. The title complex was restricting firmly to CT DNA by means of intercalation through its ligand ppym, affirmed by various spectroscopic studies. Photo irradiation of the complex cleaves the pBR322 DNA. The cytotoxicity of [Ru(phen)2(ppym)]2+ was tested in Human malignancy cancer cell line (ZR-75-30) by MTT assay with the IC50 of 10 μg/mL. Abstract
