Modelling and visualizing multiple spatial uncertainties This paper presents the results of research into the modelling and visualization of multiple types of uncertainty — each exhibiting distinct spatial characteristics. Slope stability modelling is utilized as a vehicle to bring together uncertainties in categorical spatial data and continuous spatial data. A variety of static visualization methods are discussed, as well as the implications of using an interactive animated display to explore multiple realizations of a continuous surface. The results indicate that careful definitions of allowable uncertainty, and the implications thereof, are required to calibrate an interactive animation that will be utilized by non-specialists. Abstract

This paper presents the results of research into the modelling and visualization of multiple types of uncertainty — each exhibiting distinct spatial characteristics.
