The concentration of strong acid sites of HZSM-5 catalysts decreased after La addition, while concentration of basic sites of catalysts increased. The La-modified HZSM-5 catalysts with increased amount of basic sites displayed better adsorption ability to CH3SH, and decrease in amount of strong acid sites over La doped HZSM-5 catalysts significantly suppressed the formation of coke deposit. Abstract

The concentration of strong acid sites of HZSM-5 catalysts decreased after La addition, while concentration of basic sites of catalysts increased. The La-modified HZSM-5 catalysts with increased amount of basic sites displayed better adsorption ability to CH3SH, and decrease in amount of strong acid sites over La doped HZSM-5 catalysts significantly suppressed the formation of coke deposit. Thus, addition of La significantly improved activity and stability of HZSM-5 zeolite catalysts.
