•In an IPST2017 paper, efficient computation of the impedance matrix of power cable systems was introduced.•In this paper, analogous admittance extraction technique is presented.•The formulation, Method-of-Moments discretization, and optimization techniques are discussed in detail.•Results from the proposed method are compared against classical closed-form formulas as well as finite-element method obtained from commercial software for several practical cable models.•The obtained frequency domain parameters are used in commercial EMTP software to compare time domain simulations.
