Reviews British library hist01Y: bibliography 1973-1976, edited by Denis F. Keeling. London, Library Association, 1979. 200 pp. £7.50 (£6.00 to members). ISBN 0-85365-781-5. British librarians who are dubious about the value of library history, and therefore of the need for an L.A. Library History Group, should reflect on the fact that the Group manages its affairs very well. As good evidence: it has established two serial publications, a journal and a bibliography, 'which will stand comparison, in quality, with any other serials published in the library world. Furthermore, it is likely that the complete files of both these serials will still be in current use when the back issues of most of the other library serials will be gathering dust, except, of course, when they are occasionally disturbed by library historians going about their business. The publication of the third volume of the British library history: biblio- graphy (hereafter referred to as BLHB 3), covering entries 1569 to 2335, is very \velcome, and not merely because the period it covers has produced a good deal of literature on British library history. The more volumes of the BLHB there are, the more it is likely to attract use.
