Notes on Contributors SUSAN BASSNETT is Professor of Comparative Literature and Special Advisor in Translation Studies at the University of Warwick. She began her academic career in Italy, moving via the United States to the University of Warwick, where she set up and directed the postgraduate Centre for Translation and Comparative Cultural Studies. She is author of over twenty books, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a council member of the Academia Europaea. Her most recent publications are the fourth edition of her internationally successful Translation Studies and a volume on Translation for the Routledge New Critical Idiom series. SUZAN BOZKURT is currently completing a PhD thesis entitled `Beyond the Mirror: Mechanisms of Transgressing the Canon in the Fiction of Contemporary Portuguese Women Writers (1980­2010)' at the University of Manchester (UK), exploring the links between canon formation and gendered representations in academic, press and online literary criticism. Her research focuses on various aspects of contemporary women's writing in Portugal with a special interest in canon formation.
