Modernist Time Ecology

Modernist Time Ecology world time’ and its implications for local and personal temporal horizons and pursuits; means of temporal reckoning, how time perspectives have evolved historically and, perhaps most significantly, the way time serves as a means of social control once time reckoning becomes distinct from natural or personal processes. The key focus for the sociology of time has been ‘investigation of the temporal perspectives or time horizons of individuals in their dependence on social conditions’.4 For time ecology, this focus develops into a more pointed project – something more like enhancement of the time horizons of individuals through critique of social conditions. That is, time ecology takes critical positions against the problems discovered in the sociology of time, mainly through efforts to identify, to bolster and to reconcile the diverse and overlapping prerogatives of social and human temporalities.
