Editorial Burns Chronicle 131.2 (2022): ix–xi DOI: 10.3366/burns.2022.0053 © Edinburgh University Press www.euppublishing.com/burns In this edition, we pay tribute to Professor Gerard Carruthers, who leaves us at this juncture in Burns Chronicle history for ventures new, having set the journal on a firm new footing. We wish Gerry well and offer sincere thanks to him as outgoing editor not only for his hard work in preparing this particular edition, but also for the various articles he has set in motion for future editions. We expect the next few publications of the Chronicle will continue to reflect his careful planning and preparation, not least in forthcoming special editions related to Burns’sinfluence outside Scotland, which have been expertly guided by his hand. The lasting legacy of Gerry’s editorship will be reflected more generally as the Burns Chronicle continues at its new home of Edinburgh University Press. He has done an excellent job of relocating the Chronicle and ensuring that it is ready to fulfil the Federation’s mission in a format that matches the expectations of the twenty-first century. Gerry will now join the Editorial Board, ensuring his sage advice is still available to the current and future editorial teams.
