and Ratcatcher, Hunger, Love is the Devil, The American, Jonny Greenwood and Robert Bresson Paul Davies' work in sound design has spanned television, documentary, mainstream and independent cinema. On the way he has designed the sound on some of the most original features to emerge from UK cinema this millennium. Inspired by an early passion for electronic music, he came to London in the mid-eighties where he founded his own music studio before moving into film. In 1988 he enrolled at the National Film and Television School to study in the sound department. After graduating Paul worked as a location sound recordist and sound editor for television and independent films. His first major role as a sound designer was on John Maybury's lauded film on the life of Francis Bacon, Love is the Devil, in 1998. In 2000 he set up his own sound design company. He has been sound designer on all three of Lynne Ramsay's features, Ratcatcher (1999), Morvern Callar (2002) and We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011).
