You Can Count On Me Kenneth and Theresa Ford You Can Count On Me Kenneth and Theresa Ford Donna McNeil Cox You Can Count On Me , the debut album for up-and-coming husband and of styles ranging from wife team Kenneth and Theresa Ford, offers a mix traditional gospel to a blend of rhythm and blues and jazz fusion. The title cut opens with an extended instrumental introduction emphasizing bass guitar and synthesizer and highlighting a jazz-like piano solo. Six of the nine songs fall into this contemporary idiom which the Ford's call "Christian R & B," a genre into which Kenneth Ford has assimilated his study of jazz at the Dick Groves School of Music in North Hollywood over the last three years. Over the eleven years that Kenneth and Theresa have been married they have developed a system of composing music together: "When we arrive at a piece Kenny is usually in the room playing something," said Theresa, .. and I'll run in and say 'that's mean! Oh Kenny, did you hear that melody? Go back to that.' And he'll say ·what did I do?' It's so spontaneous.''
