A Classification Channel Links in Stream Networks Differences in the length properties and occurrence frequencies among types of channel links occur in natural stream networks. We define six types of channel links: (1) S (source) links, (2) TS (tributary source) links, (3) B (bifurcating) links, (4) TB (tributary bifurcating) links, (5) CT (cis‐trans) links, and (6) T (tributary) links. The topologically random model of channel networks provides the basis for a series of equations defining the probability of occurrence of each link type in a topologically random population of networks of any specified magnitude. Differences in the length properties and occurrence frequencies among types of channel links occur in natural stream networks. We define six types of channel links: (1) S (source) links, (2) TS (tributary source) links, (3) B (bifurcating) links, (4) TB (tributary bifurcating) links, (5) CT (cis‐trans) links, and (6) T (tributary) links.
