Mishan was Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics for over 21 years. One of the world's foremost authority in the area of welfare economics and cost-bene t analysis, his textbook, Cost-Bene t Analysis (Allen and Unwin, 4th edition) has been, and continues to be in use by major universities throughout the world. Besides contributing to such no- table academic works such as Introduction to Normative Economics (Oxford University Press), Economic Eciency and Social Welfare (Allen and Un- win), Welfare Economics : Ten Essays (Random House), and What Political Economy Is All About : An Exposition and a Critique (Cambridge University Press), Professor Mishan has also written some well-known popular books such as Costs of Economic Growth (Oxford University Press, 2nd edition), Economic Myths and the Mythology of Economics (Wheatsheaf London), and Twenty-One Popular Economic Fallacies (Penguin Press).
