Superoxide dismutase recovers altered endothelium-dependent relaxation in diabetic rat aorta

Several studies have demonstrated an impaired dependent relaxatn aorta from streptozotoc-duced diabetic rats (16, 25, 26) and aorta from spontaneously diabetic Brattleboro rats (7, 23). However, other studies usg alloxan-duced diabetic rabbit aorta (12) or streptozotoc-duced diabetic rat aorta (12, 35) have shown that -dependent relaxatn did not differ between control and diabetic vessels. Moreover, White and Carrier (36) have observed an enhanced -dependent relaxatn of mesenteric artery streptozotoc-duced diabetic rats.
