The bodyconcepts are scrutinized through an analysis of the occurrences and presentation of individualbody parts. This is an approach that biblical scholarship has employed primarily to conceptualizethe body of God in the Hebrew Bible. Comparing the results from the Hebrew Bible and theNew Testament yields the insight that the New Testament presents God less in corporeal termsthan the Hebrew Bible. This is different regarding the body of Jesus, whose parts are frequentlymentioned in the NT. Especially Jesus’ feet, his blood and bowels/mercy are mentioned frequently.Regarding the latter, it looks as if Jesus adopted body characteristics from God who at the sametime becomes more transcendent.»Körper in literarischen Texten sind immer schon aus Sprache geformt; das in der gegenwärtigen Gender-Debatte so kontrovers diskutierte Problem ihrer vordiskursiven Materialität stelltsich an ihnen gar nicht.
