L Abteilung· Mit der im Jahre 1884 in einem Arretiner Codex von Gamurrini entdeckten und von ihm 1887 erstmals publizierten Pilgerschrift einer vornehmen, weströmischen Äbtissin verknüpfen sich eine Reihe sprachlich-philologischer und historisch-archäologischer Probleme1); im folgenden interessiert uns nur das Datierungsproblem.2) Bisher hat man nach dem Vorgange Gamurrinis die Zeit der Peregrinatio im allgemeinen mit dem letzten Viertel des 4. Jahrhs. angegeben. Genauer hatte Gamurrini als terminus p. q. das Jahr 363 festgestellt mit Berufung auf die Äußerung der Aetheria cap. 20,128) hinc usque ad Nisibin mansiones swu quinque et inde ttsque ad Hwr, qiiae fuit civitas Chaldaeorum, aliae mansiones sunt quinque; sed modo ibi accessus Romanorum non est; totum enim iUud Persäe tenent, in Zusammenhalt damit, daß Jovinianus im Jahre 363 Nisibis den Persern abgetreten hatte.
