AbstractThis paper discusses an example of using diaphragm walls as a retaining structure that provides protection for an excavation of the S8 expressway. The way of their design is presented, which differs from the methods used for classic retaining walls or sheet piling. The purpose of the paper is to analyse the stability of the deep excavation housing on the S8 express road named Trasa Armii Krajowej in Warsaw. The calculations used the Plaxis software program. Taking into account subsequent stages of the investment, wall displacement was estimated.
