The Ranganathan Conference The official title of this international Conference was: Ranganathan's Philosophy: Assessment, Impact and Relevance. It was arranged by ILA, the Indian Library Association, co-sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, and by the Sarada Ranganathan Endowment for Library Science, which was founded by Ranganathan in commemoration of his second wife. Chairman of the arranging committee was Mr. Girja Kumar, the president of ILA, to whom the honour is due of having given birth to the idea of a Ranganathan Conference, a Conference with the object of summing up and reviewing the influence of Ranganathan after such a brief interval äs 13 years. That it should be international was self-evident, since Dr. Ranganathan was a library philosopher not only for India.
