He was Assistant Professor at the Institutes of Paediatrics and Neonatology of the University of Parma from 1968 to 1983. He qualified for teaching in Paediatrics in 1971. Since 1983 he is Associate Professor of Neonatology at School of Medicine of the University of Parma. He is also in the faculty of the Doctorate of Research in Neonatal Physiopathology of the University of Rome. Main fields of research are: neonatal intensive care, mechanical ventilation, surfactant therapy, sudden infant death syndrome.
