The letter of is formed s in in 1.3; for the interchange of and see Gignac, Grammar I, pp. 77. Then, , , , are clear. The symbol for , however, is made in an unusual form, is a number; cf. () ic (1.6).! 3. In SPP XX 230, 11 (IV A.D.) the two words are to be read s one word with the meaning sewer or waterpipe. The text refers to buildings. Therefore the lines 10-11 could be translated: "For the price of the bearing beams in the storey of the deep holes and the sewer". 4. BGU XI 2069, 12 the text can be restored . Cf. PSI VIII 893, 23-24 (A.D. 315) [] . For other parallel phrases see N. Litinas, in ZPE 119 (1997), p.175, 6 n. These phrases are always attested with the article between the preposition and the word ; cf., however, other examples, s in P.Cair. Isid. 77, 29 [] ;
