Which challenges can be found within such a process of institutionalization and what methodological approaches are suitable for scientific research? This article is based on a research and development project following the constitution of a continuing education institution in China and analyzing the processes of institutionalization to generate transferable findings. Due to the fact that such development processes are nearly unknown there is rarely knowledge referring to the methodological implementations of this kind of research. So this contribution shows why it is necessary to achieve a lot of qualitative data. It also gives a short impression concerning the meaning of culture sensitive proceedings in transnational research. 1.
