II. Abteilung den Sophisten Thrasymachos, und mithin auf die Stadt Chalkedon, beziehen. Zu den Bewohnern dieser Stadt, oder ihrer Umgebung, gehört also der Mönch , der Verfasser dieser gehässigen Notiz, sowie auch der von ihm beschimpfte bartlose Patriarch Polyeuktos, 956-970 (er war Eunuch, vgl. Skylitzes, Synopsis Historiarum, Berlin 1973, 244.89-93). Nach einer Patriarchenliste zitiert von R. Janin (Les eglises et les monaster es des grands centres byzantins, Paris 1975, 2$) stammte Polyeuktos aus einem Kloster auf dem Eliasberg bei Chrysopolis. Derselbe (S. 59) nennt auch ein Kloster, das Leo VI. im J. 912 stiftete , ebenfalls in Bithynien und unweit von Konstantinopel; ob es morphologisch, bzw. paläographisch, wahrscheinlich ist, daß ein Mönch dieses Kloster als statt erscheint, muß bis auf weiteres dahingestellt bleiben.
