Both have a strong expertise in quality and modelling and control of quality. Below, the two members introduce themselves and specify their special fields of interest. Professor George Yanev, University of Texas – Pan American: I received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Sofia, Bulgaria, and a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of South Florida, USA. My main research interests are in branching stochastic processes and ordered random variables. I have been involved as a stochastic consultant in a number of grants supported by the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Research Institute and the Center for Urban Transportation Research at the University of South Florida, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Professor Martí Casadenús, University of Girona: I am an industrial engineer and professor at the University of Girona, Spain. My research is focused on quality assurance, specially in design and analysis of quality management standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 10002, : : :). As leader of the Research Group in Technological Innovation of Productions Systems (GITASP), which is recognized by the Government of Catalonia, I have participated in many research projects in the quality management field. Moreover, I am member of the ISO Technical Committee 176. This committee has the responsibility to write and improve quality management standards, such as ISO 10004. Actually, I am vice-rector for planning & quality of the University of Girona. We look forward to a fruitful cooperation with Professor George Yanev and Professor Martí Casadenús and we are sure that the new editors will lead to an extension and an enrichment of the scope of EQC.
