Editorial Introduction to Issue 2.2

Editorial Introduction to Issue 2.2 Journal of Ancient History 2014; 2(2): 7979 DOI 10.1515/jah-2014-0027 The Journal of Ancient History is proud to present this special issue devoted to Sasanian politics and archaeology. Three of the six papers here were originally presented at an interdisciplinary workshop at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World (ISAW) at New York University on April 26, 2013. We hope that this volume will in some small way inspire other collaborations between historians and archaeologists and be the first of many other collections of papers presented in the JAH. I would like to thank Richard Payne for his hard work in organizing the workshop, and then pulling together the papers presented here, with the encouragement of JAH Editorial Board member, Petra Sijpesteijn. Mehrnoush Soroush also provided invaluable editorial and organizational assistance. Of course, Kate Whitcomb, JAH Assistant Editor, deserves no small credit for the timely completion of this volume. The JAH would also like to thank the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago for providing the special cover image used in this volume ("The Sasanian city of Bishapur, Fars: Erich Schmidt, Photographic Archive of the Aerial Survey Expedition").
