The summer of 2022 has marked the final part of our joint editorship of the Journal of the International Arthurian Society, having taken up the mantle at our International Congress in Würzburg in 2017. The last five years have been a truly stimulating experience, and we have thoroughly enjoyed reading the very latest in Arthurian research and seeing the very best articles to press in our journal. We have had open calls and special issues, as well as prize-winning essays and tributes to fellow Arthurians. Circulation of the journal has increased during this time, while institutional subscriptions have remained stable, and these are markers – especially given the pandemic we have all been living through – of the global esteem in which our journal is held. The pandemic itself has seen traditional research methods thwarted and stifled, but Arthurians have taken up that challenge with great creativity and energy; they have managed to produce articles that show no signs of anything other than the most robust and rigorous levels of enquiry. The articles contained within this issue are no exception, and together they make up a special issue devoted to the topic of Arthurian Medievalism. We are very grateful to our guest
