Zugenmaier Institut für Physikalische Chemie, Technische Universität Clausthal, Amold-Sommerfeld-Str. 4, D-38678 Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany (Received February 15, 1993) ref. 1. The compound was purified by silica column chromatography (eluent: dichloromethane). Suitable crystals for X-ray analysis were obtained by slow evaporation of butylacetate/ethanol-solution at room temperature. H4HBP crystallizes in an acentric space group although the molecule contains no chiral atoms. The molecules forni a herringbone layer structure with a network of interlayer hydrogen bonds. see Source of material: Monoclinic, P12il (No. 4), a 9\ .08( l)°, V = 1350.9 Â\ 5.746(1) À, b 29.667(3) Â, c 7.926(2) Â, = = = 4, R 4-(4-Hydroxy-l-butoxy)-4'-hydroxybiphenyl Table 1.
