Abstract

S. Mödersheim: B. Rieder, Contemplatio coeli stellati less vivid. And vividness is not only Herzog's strength, it is a prerequisite of any recovery of this neglected material for other scholars. It is the fact that the printed sermon has retained so much stylistic, rhetorical energy that might persuade others to follow where Herzog has led the way. And if those six most frequently quoted preachers might seern to form an uneasy foundation for all-embracing generalisations, they have nevertheless one advantage. On them the case for the richness of the Baroque sermon rests securely. Thanks to Herzog we can for the first time see what that case is and where that richness lies. VII/275 S-> DM 83>~· Während in der Astrologie die kopernikanische Wende zur heliozentrischen Kosmologie stattfindet, bleibt in der populären Literatur und der vorwissenschaftlichen Alltagserfahrung des 17.
