BKT IX 152: Late Hexameters from Hermopolis

BKT IX 152: Late Hexameters from Hermopolis Nikolaos Gonis (Oxford) P.Berol. 21248 fr. 5 7.6 6 cm Fifth/sixth Century This papyrus was provisionally edited in G. loannidou, Catalogue of Greek and Latin Literary Papyri in Berlin = BKT IX (1996), (no.) 152, pp. 193-4, with plate 66. The edition offered below aims at taking this piece a few Steps fürther than the catalogue, especially since the published transcript may be improved upon in several places.1 Of the six fragments originally published under the same number, fr. l does not come from the same manuscript äs the other five (the hand is different), and will not be re-edited here; it is for convenience that I have retained the ed. pr.'s numbering of the fragments. Frr. 5 and 6 give line-ends, fr. 4 (probably) linebeginnings. Frr. 5 and 6 almost certainly come from the same column (fr. 6 gives the foot). None of the fragments carries writing on the other side. The assigned date, /IVth Century A.D.', seems too early. The hand is very similar to that responsible for BKT IX 40, assigned to the fifth Century, or that of P.Berol. 17044,2 illustrated in G. Cavallo & H. Maehler, Greek Bookhands ofthe Early Byzantine Period (1987) no. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Archiv für Papyrusforschung und verwandte Gebiete de Gruyter
