JIAS 2016; 4(1): 180 DOI 10.1515/jias-2016-0017 The Essay Prize for the best submission to the Journal of the International Arthurian Society (JIAS) is awarded to an article submitted by a postgraduate student, early career researcher or independent scholar. Postgraduate students at any level of study are eligible; the `early career' status is defined as `up to 7 years from the award of the doctorate'; `independent scholars' are considered to be any Arthurian scholars who are not employed by a higher education institution in a teaching or research capacity. Evidence of status is required for all submissions. Submissions can be between 7,00010,000 words (inclusive of footnotes). No exceptions will be made to this rule. The deadline for submissions is 1 March 2017. The winner will be announced by 1 May 2017. Submissions must follow the style guide for JIAS: http://www.mhra.org.uk/Publications/Books/StyleGuide/download.shtml The value of the prize is £150 (or equivalent in relevant currency) and one year free membership of IAS. Submissions should be sent to the Editor of JIAS, Prof. Raluca Radulescu; one electronic copy should be sent to jias@bangor.ac.uk and an identical hard copy to the postal address listed in the journal.
