Bi-annual JIAS Essay Prize Competition 2017 JIAS 2016; 4(1): 180 DOI 10.1515/jias-2016-0017 The Essay Prize for the best submission to the Journal of the International Arthurian Society (JIAS) is awarded to an article submitted by a postgraduate student, early career researcher or independent scholar. Postgraduate students at any level of study are eligible; the `early career' status is defined as `up to 7 years from the award of the doctorate'; `independent scholars' are considered to be any Arthurian scholars who are not employed by a higher education institution in a teaching or research capacity. Evidence of status is required for all submissions. Submissions can be between 7,000­10,000 words (inclusive of footnotes). No exceptions will be made to this rule. The deadline for submissions is 1 March 2017. The winner will be announced by 1 May 2017. Submissions must follow the style guide for JIAS: http://www.mhra.org.uk/Publications/Books/StyleGuide/download.shtml The value of the prize is £150 (or equivalent in relevant currency) and one year free membership of IAS.
