Verbeke, a Belgian-based antiquarian bookseller who will be affectionately remembered by many legal historians. When I look back upon my own acquisitions of the past twenty years, few second-hand books or old imprints have a story to tell as regards their purchase; however, to those volumes I occasionally bought from Christian Verbeke, fond memories are invariably attached, for beyond an expert book-dealer, he was a man truly committed to bibliography (witness his publications), who genuinely shared the intellectual interests of his clients. The present volume consists, in Part Two, of a reprint of the 1894 Owens College Library Catalogue (Manchester). Part One contains a brief introduction by C.
