MILNE EDWARDS, UNDER LABORATORY CONDITIONS (DECAPODA BRACHYURA, GRAPSIDAE, SESARMINAE) *) BY ELDA FAGETTI and ITALO CAMPODONICO Departamento de Oceanologia, Universidad de Chile, Casilla 13-D, Viña del Mar, Chile INTRODUCTION Within the sub-family Sesarminae of the family Grapsidae, the genus Cyclo- grapstts is represented in Chile by two species: C. cinereus Dana and C. punctatu.r H. Milne Edwards. The distribution of C. cinereu.r is limited to the Peruvian and Chilean coast, from Ancud to Calbuco, while C. punctatus shows a wider geogra- phical range: Chilean coast and Juan Fernandez Islands as well as South Africa, Indian Ocean and Hong-Kong (Garth, 1957). Informations about the breeding season, sex ratio and fecundity of C. cinereus was supplied by Antezana, Fagetti & L6pez (1965); the larvae have been described from rearing in the laboratory by Costlow & Fagetti (1967). However, no infor- mation is so far available on the biology of C. pttnctattfs from Chilean waters and the larvae have not been described as yet.
