Vittorio Klostermann, Frankfurt a.M. 1978. 291 pages.* In spite of the increasing attacks upon the adequacy of the editing of the Gesamtausgabe, the works continue to be published at fairly regular intervals. One of the latest volumes, Metaphysische Anfangsgriinde der Logik im A2.csgang von Leibniz, presents the text of the last lecture course which Heidegger gave while still teaching at the University of Marburg in 1928. Preparation of the text is done by Klaus Held, who like other editors of the Gesamtausgabe, fails to specify the deletions and additions which he has seen fit to make in Heidegger's original manuscript. This failure, of course, may reflect negatively upon the reliability of the prepared text. However, our criticism must be muted when we consider the flexible character of Heidegger's thinking and the elusive nature of that to which his thinking is devoted.
