What it builds is space, transforming space into place-a place, some place, a gathered and gathering form, informed space. The character of this building tells us immediately what is most obvious about this art, namely, that it is an Apollinian art, for what distinguishes the art is not building per se but building form. As such, it is an art of measure and moderation, of the delimitation of space in the production of figures ( Gestalt ) and forms. Ac- cordingly, the architect is a dreamer, a producer of images, shaped images, formed images as images of form-squares, triangles, circles, cubes, cylin- ders, etc. But geometric form is not the architect's only consideration.
