[In Spanish.] Here is an excellent text for the aquatic biologist whose work involves the identification of Branchiopoda. Besides serving as a text for the taxonomist, Alonso also meant the book to provide a clear identification guide that presents some ecological information for freshwater biologists, while it undoubtedly will stimulate students to work on the Iberian Branchiopoda fauna by virtue of its well-illustrated keys. The work is based on a careful study of more than 2000 samples from all over the Iberian- Balearic area, and covers I I species (including two new species) distributed over 50 genera and 19 families. The Iberian Branchiopoda are grouped into six orders according to the arrangement suggested by G. Fryer (1987, Zool. Joum. Linnean Soc., London, 91: 357-383): Anostraca, Spinicaudata, Notostraca, Onychopoda, Ctenopoda, and Anomopoda. At the order level, the author presents in- formation on morphology of adult and young specimens, life history, and methodology (collecting, preserving, and preparing).
