Vittorio Klostermann, Frankfurt a.M., 1975. 473 pages.* / Die Grundprobleme der Pbänomenologie, the first volume issued in the new Gesamtausgabe, presents the text of a lecture course which Heidegger gave at Marburg during the Summer Semester of 1927. The edition of the lectures was prepared by F.-W. von Herrmann on the basis of Heidegger's handwritten lecture notes, a copy of which was prepared by Fritz Heidegger, and a transcription prepared by Simon Moser, who took down the lectures in shorthand. The edition presents only the final text as reconstructed by the editor and thus does not measure up to the high standards set by recent textual-critical scholarship in Germany. Unfortunately, it is in no sense a critical edition. A footnote at the beginning of the Introduction gives the most signifi- _ cant indication of the general character of the lectures. The note reads: "a new working out of the third division of the first part of Being and Time" . (1).
