Preface

Preface In this volume, according to the general profile of the journal, we once again provide an international forum for articles deploying the resources of logical analysis in dealing with historical philosophical texts. In this fifth volume we have succeeded in incorporating four papers on medieval philosophy, constituting a thematic focus. This thematic focus of the volume is supplemented by articles on historical philosophical texts from Aristotle to modern philosophy (Rorty’s pragmatism). The book review section offers an additional thematic focus on the philosophy of nature in the past centuries. We would like to thank Wilko Ufert and Eva Wilhelmus for their assistance in preparing this volume as well as our publisher, mentis Verlag, for their persisting and fruitful cooperation. We are delighted by the positive evaluation of the journal by the German National Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft/DFG) in the spring of 2001, and are grateful to the Foundation for its financial support.
