Old Testament Studies Dedicated To G. W. Anderson OLD TESTAMENT STUDIES DEDICATED TO G. W. ANDERSON PREFACE Professor G. W. Anderson was a member of the Editorial Board of Vetus Testamentum for a quarter of a century from its foundation until the end of 1975, and his connexion with its work did not cease in that year, for he then became a member of the Advisory Committee. It is fitting that he should be honoured in the pages of a journal with which he has been associated from the beginning, and all the more so because of his work for the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament, under whose auspices Vetus Testamentum is published. George Wishart Anderson was born on 25 January 1913, and so the first nine articles of VT 32 honour him at the beginning rather than the completion of his seventieth year. He studied Classics at the University of St Andrews in his native Scotland, and Theology at Cambridge, where he specialized in the study of the Old Testament.
